Mahabharata is the largest epic of the world in size, and greatest in content, and coverage of subject. It, however, is presented as a dialogue inside a dialogue and again a dialogue while narrating the final story. Another problem is that the presentation of the story starts from the end several times, and later narrates the beginning.
The author has presented the epic in story form from the great divine planning of restoring virtue, and also the start of the Kuru dynasty. He has narrated different generations of Kurus one after another, and the events chronologically. The great story has been presented in three parts.
This part covers the stories of the births of Bhishma, Vyas, the next generation, and then of the Pandavas and Kauravas. Narrating the Rajsuya Yagya and glory of Pandavas, it ends at the game of dice.
