This story of Jaya is now famously known as the story of the Mahabharata. We have already read the first and second part of the story, starting from the woe of earth leading to celestial plan to ensure victory of virtue against the devilish forces, up to the famous game of dice leading Pandavas to lose their hard-earned glory and kingdom, and leaving for the forests along with Draupadi, in the first part; and Pandavas and Draupadi spending twelve years of exile in forests, and one more year in incognito, in second part of the story.
After fulfilling the conditions, they should get back their kingdom, and peace should prevail. But we find in this third part of the story that the peace prevails much later, after a great carnage. Let us now explore and enjoy this very interesting third part of the story of the Mahabharata.
In this part of the story of the Mahabharata, we read the efforts for conciliation between the Pandavas and the sons of Dhritarashtra, and also preparation for war, and then the actual war leading to the victory of righteousness. Isn't it surprising that Krishna emerged as the greatest warrior of the Mahabharata, despite not fighting the war himself.
It is also amazing to explore the way the great war between the larger force of untruth and the smaller army of virtue proceeds. The result is the victory of the divine over the devil, the triumph of Good over the forces of evil, and finally the ultimate victory of Dharma over Adharma.
