Kharag Singh was born in Tarn Taran (Punjab) in 1957. He became interested in old films at an early age. When he was studying in Jamshedpur Co-Operative College during 1975 to 1978, old movies used to be shown in Star Talkies. He saw Taxi Driver and Baiju Bawra, among others. These films influenced him a lot. He kept a notebook in which he wrote information about all the movies he watched. He wrote down the names of producer, director, actors and actresses, music composer etc. His friends used to come to him to get information about old films. This is how his journey began and continues to this day.
