This is one of the important kavachas of Batuka Bhairava also known as the āpaduddhāraṇa. Batuka generally means a young celibate man. Lord Bhairava who has taken such a form is called Batuka Bhairava.
This Kavacha Stotra (armour hymn) is said to be from the Rudrayāmala Tantra. Though the source text Rudrayāmala is not available in its complete form today and only fragments and sub-texts of it are available. However this stotra is recorded in the Bhairavopasanādhyāya of brihadjyotisārṇava.
Reciting this hymn with devotion helps the devotee attain longevity, wisdom, fame and glory, righteousness and also strength.
For chanting the mantra of Batuka Bhairava, a proper initiation is recommended, one can chant the kavacha of Batuka Bhairava if one is devotedly inclined toward the lord.
