Her predicament couldn't have been worse.

She was among the poorest of the poor. Illiterate; unwed mother at 17; deserted by the man responsible; disowned by her family and socially outcast with no support base. And the worst: she was a single woman in a man's world.

Though she gives birth to a male child, it gets swapped with a baby girl by an unscrupulous rich man; his only motivation being to have a male heir.

However, she has the strength of steel and refuses to be cowed down by circumstances. She resolves to bring up the girl child in a way that her capabilities would speak for her, not her bloodline. Her daughter would be a virtuous and strong woman successfully taking on the male dominated world corrupted by social dogma and stereotypes.

With grit and strong determination the two women nearly succeed when fate intervenes. Her daughter gets pitted against a young man in a bitter corporate war.
