hi, i’m kriti. i started my poetry journey during the lockdown. i shut myself in a room either watching one piece (anime) or writing pieces of poetry. inspired by nature because i missed going out and eventually after the lockdown, the inspiration for my poems continued through friends, family and observations.

my writing comes from a curiosity to draw parallels between humans and nature, connection, femininity and my love for travel and animals. finally after six years, i reached a point where i wanted to put my poetry out into the world and let people read it.

as a filmmaker, visuals are what i live for. capturing the sun falling on textured walls, the swaying of trees, people, flowers, my travels and the ocean gives me immense joy. it’s a form of storytelling that speaks to me. to give meaning to my poetry or simply a visual to remember them by, each poem is paired with an artwork either photographed by me over the years or created specially for this book.

everything in the world is a photograph until you capture it and then it turns into a precious memory. everything in the world is also poetic if you stay long enough to notice it. words and images have a way of holding what we cannot always carry on our own.

i hope you take something back with you the way i took something from the flower that spoke to me.
