I am a writer. Having published in an anthology (Celebrating India, a compilation of memoirs, short stories and travelogues depicting India as seen through the eyes of people who have lived in and loved her) I am walking a lone path to completing my novel.
While just hearing the scratch of the pen on paper is bliss itself, I have always wanted to share this pleasure and belong in a group of other weird humans like me.
I have often dreamt of a platform to overcome our fears, explore our muse and stretch our imagination. A cozy writer’s cafe where every creative mind can stop, refresh, and immerse themselves in creativity.
‘Before A Beyond Z’ is that dream. As the University of Iowa’s writer’s workshop says, “Writing cannot be taught, but... writers can be encouraged.” And so the creative writing classes and workshop at Before A Beyond Z is unlike any other academic course. It follows a ‘signature pedagogy’: a way of teaching, learning and assessment specific to creative writing. This course offers techniques to help students overcome fear of writing and expression, stretch their imaginations and vocabularies and hone skills of observation, description, analysis and an awareness of literary techniques and craftsmanship.
