Maria Mathews is a Research Scholar in the Department of English at Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady, Kerala. She has worked as Assistant Professor at premier government-aided and private colleges in Kerala. She holds an MPhil degree in English from SSUS-Kalady, and BA, MA degrees from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala. Her research articles have appeared in several academic books and journals, and she has also co-edited the 2021 anthology Poe in Quarantine: Selected Works of Edgar Allan Poe. Her areas of interest include subaltern studies, vulnerability studies, and women's studies.
