From Classrooms to Clicks explores the transformation of education in India, tracing its evolution from traditional classrooms to the dynamic realm of online and distance learning. The book begins with an in-depth historical overview, highlighting key milestones like the establishment of IGNOU in 1985 and the advent of correspondence courses that aimed to bridge geographical and socioeconomic gaps. It delves into how online education gained prominence, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, which catalyzed a massive shift toward digital learning solutions.
The narrative examines the role of government policies and technological advancements in shaping this educational paradigm. The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 emerges as a cornerstone, promoting inclusivity, flexibility, and quality in education through digital platforms like SWAYAM and initiatives to modernize learning frameworks. The book also addresses the challenges of the digital divide and explores innovative solutions, such as public-private partnerships, to expand access to quality education for rural and underserved populations.
With a focus on the future, the book highlights trends like personalized learning through AI, the adoption of hybrid models, and the globalization of education. It discusses the rising demand for micro-credentials, skill-specific programs, and lifelong learning as pivotal to adapting to the needs of a rapidly evolving job market. The role of multimedia integration, such as interactive simulations and video lectures, is emphasized for enhancing student engagement and comprehension.
The text also critiques the obstacles facing online education, including maintaining academic integrity and ensuring robust infrastructure. Through practical insights and recommendations, From Classrooms to Clicks envisions an education system that is equitable, adaptive, and aligned with global standards.
