About the Author

Ms. Mousumi Paul is an Assistant Professor of English Language and Literature at Swami Vivekananda Institute of Science and Technology, Kolkata. She is currently pursuing her doctoral research as a research scholar at University of Engineering &Management Kolkata. With over thirteen years of teaching experience, she has been actively engaged in both academic instruction and scholarly research, contributing significantly to the interdisciplinary field of environmental humanities. Ms. Paul has a deep commitment to teaching language and communication, particularly within the context of technical and professional education. As an educator in a technical institution, she takes a special interest in language pedagogy, communication skills, and interdisciplinary learning, helping students develop critical thinking and effective communication abilities essential for contemporary academic and professional environments. Her research interests lie at the intersection of literature, environment, and philosophy. Her primary areas of scholarly engagement include Political Ecocriticism, Eco-crip Studies, Posthumanism, Medical Humanities, and Deep Ecology. Through these frameworks, she explores how literary texts respond to environmental crises, ecological justice, and the complex relationships between human and nonhuman worlds. Recently, she has expanded her research focus to emerging domains such as Planetary Humanities, Blue Humanities, and Posthuman Ecologies, reflecting her ongoing interest in the broader environmental and ethical questions facing the contemporary world. Ms. Paul has published several research articles in UGC-CARE approved journals as well as internationally recognized Web of Science (WoS) and Scopus indexed journals. Her scholarly work engages with contemporary environmental theory and literary criticism, contributing to ongoing conversations in the global environmental humanities. She regularly presents her research at national and international conferences, where she actively participates in academic dialogue and interdisciplinary collaboration. In addition to her publications and conference presentations, Ms. Paul has also played an important role in academic event organization and scholarly networking. She has successfully organized and conducted a series of international conferences between 2018 and 2022, bringing together scholars from diverse disciplines to discuss pressing issues in literature, environment, culture, and communication. These academic initiatives reflect her commitment to fostering collaborative research environments and encouraging critical engagement with contemporary global challenges. Alongside her academic pursuits, Ms. Paul maintains a strong interest in creative writing and intellectual exploration, believing that literature and language have the power to cultivate ecological awareness and ethical responsibility. Her ongoing research continues to explore how literary narratives can generate environmental consciousness, planetary thinking, and new forms of human–nonhuman relationality in the era of ecological crisis.
