Description

Getting Ready to Roar: The Chief Auditor's Guide from Audit Room to Board Room is a bold, practical, and timely guide for Chief Audit Executives (CAEs) navigating the changing demands of governance, risk, and organisational relevance.

Drawing on decades of regional experience across South Asia, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Australia, the book offers a roadmap for transformation-anchored in strategic audit, professional independence, and practical influence.

As internal audit evolves from control-focused compliance to a trusted, strategic function, CAEs face a difficult balancing act. They must maintain objectivity while offering real-time insight. They must build independence while earning board-level trust. They must provide assurance while being agile enough to advise. This book addresses those tensions head-on, offering tools and language to help audit leaders redefine their presence in the organisation and the boardroom.

Structured across eight clear parts, Getting Ready to Roar fills a long-standing gap in the literature by focusing squarely on the modern strategic role of the CAE-beyond checklists and controls. It provides frameworks, visual guides, self-assessment tools, and strategic audit diagnostics to support both new and experienced CAEs.

The book covers how to reset outdated expectations, shift team mindsets, build strategic credibility, manage reporting influence, and strengthen both private and public sector impact. It also offers guidance on working with board committees, navigating cultural resistance, and aligning audit practice with organisational strategy.
Readers will gain the tools and language to reposition internal audit as a credible source of insight, build leadership presence in the boardroom, and lead their teams toward greater relevance and impact.

Supporting materials such as assessment checklists, strategy prompts, and an index of focus areas make it a practical reference as well as a guide.
Written by Navin Pasricha-a seasoned internal audit leader, former Chief Audit Executive, and experienced Board Director with decades of governance and audit leadership across South Asia, Southeast Asia, Australia, and the Middle East-this book blends regional insight with global relevance.
