I did not set out simply to write a biography. Rather, this is a journey: through the inner landscapes of a child who felt drawn beyond toys and games; through the austerities and trials of a seeker; through illness, awakening, community, and service. And ultimately, through the teachings that flow from a life committed to devotion. What follows is a weaving of what is known, what is remembered, and what has been lovingly retold by many devotees. Wherever there is ambiguity or divergent memory, I have tried to note it, trusting that truth shines through sincerity.
