Everybody who has seen a Hindi film knows the titles sequence structure: the censor certificate, some disclaimers, some acknowledgments, the producer or the production company, the name of the film, the lead players, the character artists, a few smaller roles, perhaps animals, cars, the technicians like cinematographers, sound recorders, then editors, perhaps junior artist suppliers and the vehicle suppliers, usually ending with the lyricist, the music director, the director and the producer. There may be a mention of the music company, the studio and the sound recording system.
This huge amount of information has never been collected in systematic way so far. We have undertaken to do it, directly from the videos available.
We have avoided the information that is already included in the monumental Hindi Film Geet Kosh by Har Mandir Singh 'Hamraaz' and focused on the rest of the crew. At this time we are limited by the availability of the movies. We plan to explore other sources at a later time.

About the Authors

Pradeep Asrani
Born and educated in Mumbai, Pradeep graduated in Science from Bombay University and has a post graduate diploma in Management. He is a connoisseur of Hindi film and non-film music of the black & white era, 1930s to 1960s.
He has over 40 years work experience as a commercial and investment banker. In 1999, he moved to Muscat to join an investment holding company as its Executive Vice President. He became CEO of the Company in 2005 and retired in 2018.
He has presented over 50 audio-visual programs on Hindi film music for over 15 years in Muscat, Dubai and in Mumbai.

Malini Kanth
Born in Bihar and educated in New Delhi, Malini Kanth has been working in the Software Industry since the start of her professional career. She moved to the US in 1994.
She has a deep interest in Hindustani Classical Music and Hindi Film Music. She is on the board of Board of Kalakendra Inc.
She has been active in RMIM since the 90s.
She helped organize Oregon’s first Chhath celebration in 2021.

Professor Surjit Singh, a diehard movie fanatic, period.
He is a retired Theoretical Physicist. He has been watching Hindi movies since 1952, has been collecting Hindi songs, movies and magazines since 1969, and has been writing about these things since 1996. He has had a website since 1999,
