This book deals with micromechanics of composite materials. It does not talk about basics of mechanics. There are innumerous books for that. This is a highly specialized book that gives you full models and equations to calculate micromechanical properties of composites.
All example models available are focussed for Metal Matrix Composites. However, many of these models are generic and can be used with any type of fiber reinforced or particle reinforced composites.
This book covers models that are availabe for 1. Elastic properties, 2. Strength properties, 3. Interface Models, 4. Inelastic or Plastic Response, 5. Fatigue, 6. Failure and 7. Creep.
This book is intended for use as a reference material to energetic researchers and scientists who wish to start their research on micromechanics of composite materials of any kind or as a reference text book to teach engineers for available micromechanical models. There are more methodologies and models available in literature than publicized here. Appropriate selection of models for a particular usage is however on the own discretion of the researcher after using this book as a reference.
