Description

The Bhagoria Festival is one of the most distinctive cultural celebrations of the Bhil tribes of
India, with a strong presence in Madhya Pradesh. This book provides a comprehensive
exploration of the festival, focusing on its historical foundations, cultural significance, and
evolving practices. Beginning with an introduction to the Bhil community and their traditions,
the book systematically examines the festival’s origins, its rituals, and its symbolic role within
tribal society. Special emphasis is placed on the socio-cultural transformations and continuities
that shape the festival in contemporary times.
