In the ever-evolving landscape of education, the quest for knowledge takes on myriad forms, and the
minds of undergraduate researchers become the crucible where ideas are forged and insights
illuminated. "Compendium of Undergraduate Research in Education" stands as a evidence to the
intellectual curiosity and scholarly endeavours of emerging researchers, each contributing a unique lens
through which the complexities of education are examined and understood.
Within the pages of this compendium, a diverse array of undergraduate research projects conducted by
B.El.Ed. Student-teachers under my supervision as a part of their course SEED470: Research Project II
(Educational Issue), unfolds—a mosaic of inquiries into the multifaceted dimensions of education.
These studies, conducted against the backdrop of the dynamic National Education Policy of 2022, echo
the urgency and commitment to shape the educational landscape in consonance with the needs of the
21st century.
The journey through this compendium begins with a focus on elementary school learners, exploring the
development of 21st-century knowledge and skills—a critical endeavour aligned with the
transformative goals set by educational policies. Moving forward, the exploration delves into the realm
of life skills education, investigating the impact of school-based activities that transcend traditional
pedagogies to equip students with essential life skills.
The comparative study of student-teachers' experiences during face-to-face and virtual internship
programs underscores the evolving nature of teacher preparation in a digital age. Simultaneously, the
exploration of sports and games as catalysts for students' growth and development sheds light on the
holistic benefits of extracurricular activities within the educational milieu.
The compendium navigates through the intricacies of language education, investigating the teaching of
English in government schools of the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi. Concurrently, it
examines environmental studies organized by primary school teachers, delving into the intersection of
pedagogy and ecological awareness.
Blended learning, a pedagogical innovation, takes center stage as the compendium unfolds the
experiences of students and teachers in elementary schools navigating this evolving approach to
education. The lack of quality resources in government schools becomes a critical focal point,
illustrating the challenges that impact the learning environment at the elementary level.
Social issues are confronted head-on, with studies addressing a comparative analysis of gender-sensitive
pedagogy in elementary classrooms of government and private schools in District Gurugram, Haryana.
The prevention of information overload and the portrayal of gender in print media advertisements
further enrich the exploration of societal dynamics within the educational context.
The compendium also takes a closer look at the perceptions of upper primary school students regarding
gender portrayals in media advertisements. Initiatives for the development of education, health,
nutrition, and child protection become subjects of scrutiny through case studies of selected nongovernmental organizations in District Gurugram, Haryana.
The journey concludes with an examination of human rights awareness among pre-service teacher
trainees—a reflection on the ethical dimensions that underpin the foundation of education.
As we embark on this intellectual journey through the "Compendium of Undergraduate Research in
Education," we celebrate the diverse perspectives, rigorous inquiries, and scholarly contributions of the
next generation of educators, researchers, and leaders. May this compendium inspire ongoing dialogue,
fuel curiosity, and serve as a catalyst for transformative changes in the educational landscape
