We know that Bhagavad Gita is a summary of Vedas/ Upanishads, and gives a birds-eye view of various paths and overall spiritual foundation of Hinduism. So essentially, Bhagavad Gita summarizes the tens of thousands of shlokas from Vedas/Upanishads into 700 shlokas. But, for our generation, which feeds on Twitter and memes, seven hundred is still a lot to read. So, a natural question is always asked, 'Is there any summary of Bhagavad Gita'?And there is.Not sure if Krishna predicted future generations like ours, but a summary of Bhagavad Gita is given in Bhagavad Gita itself. The last chapter of Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 18, summarizes all that is told in other chapters. With 78 shlokas in chapter 18, it's a detailed summary, but not too long as well. If we are in a hurry or need a quick refresher, chapter 18 is the goto place for repeat readers. For first time readers, it's still recommended to start from the first chapter.Given the importance of this chapter, we think it might be good idea, if we cover chapter 18 of the Bhagavad Gita in detail. We will be taking a few shlokas in each post and write more about them, along with meaning.
