In Ram Laitra's captivating prequel to "Manoj Sen’s Trysts with Ghosts," sociology student Manoj Sen and his musician friend Mark D'Souza embark on an academic expedition to the remote village of Kishenpur in Jharkhand. Their goal is to study the elusive Santhal communities hidden deep within the surrounding forests, amidst the area's fraught atmosphere of Naxal insurgency. An accident occurs at the home of their host, Shyam Pande, resulting in significant damage to the house. This prompts Shyam Pande to abruptly expel them from his home. Seeking refuge, they stumble upon a nearby crumbling Zamindari palace.
