Ranjit Kumar Das (Nickname: Ronu/ Ronua) (b.1957): Born on 15 April to Dr Dinabandhu & Mrs Mayarani Das in a coastal village named Deula / Deulahat falling in Bhograi Block of Balasore district (Orissa). The village borders Purba Medinipur district of West Bengal (WB). With early childhood spent in Kolkata, he had his schooling in Jhakjhaki (Jalasoharia) UP School (Orissa), Jashteghari UP School (WB), Santra High School (WB), Surendra Nath ME School, Balharpur (Orissa) and finally in BM Academy, Kakhra (Orissa) wherefrom he passed High School Certificate (HSC) Examination, 1973 in First Division.
Thereafter, he pursued Intermediate Course in Science (Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics) and Graduation in Economics (with Statistics) & Mathematics from Fakir Mohan College, Balasore. He secured First Division in I. Sc. Examination, 1975 and passed BA (Honours with Distinctions) in 1977 occupying 8th Rank in Utkal University.
In the year 1979, he earned the Master’s Degree in Economics with Mathematical Economics & Econometrics as special papers from Ravenshaw College, Cuttack and secured Grade Point ‘A’ and stood 3rd in Utkal University.
In the same year, he began his career with an Apex Level Public Financial Institution. Prior to his present place of posting, i.e., Chandigarh, he had worked at Bhubaneswar, Mumbai, Lucknow. Of the various capacities, he had also stints at a district and in a Training Establishment. As a faculty member, he specialised in Behavioural Science and Micro Credit.
Besides vast experiences in a career spanning nearly three decades, he has also completed several short duration formal training / certificate courses in many institutes of repute, both inside and outside India, covering very wide-ranging topics / disciplines.

He is married to Shyamali (16 June 1984), daughter of Mr Satish Chandra & Mrs Bangalakshmi Das of village Lakshannath, Balasore. They are blessed with two sons – Sushant & Prashant, and a daughter – Purnima.
