Re: Pine in the Tale

“a treat for the soul”

Pine in the tale, a fiction by Mrs. Richa is a fine collection of eight heartwarming stories. Set against the backdrop of the majestic Himalayas, the author in her captivating and powerful narration presents to the reader the splendid and pristine beauty, wildlife, tradition and cultures, prevalent spiritualism, vagaries, challenges, simplicity and social contemporary issues of the hill region and its people.
The stories are well researched, some with twists much like the contours of the mountains. They are compelling enough to ask yourself some very soul searching questions.
Each story has its own flavor. We find a blend of thrilling love adventures, supernatural beliefs and mystic tales, tenderness amidst materialism, and an additional array of emotions and lifestyles.
In all, the author’s work is original and shows an eye for detail. There is professionalism in her work, a genuine empathy. Few sprinkles of mythological retelling and wildlife episodes are done with great accuracy. Tender human reactions and emotions explained are mesmerizing and fascinating. Though the book is unputdownable from the very start, yet the best way is to read leisurely, one story at a time, enjoying its flavors and letting them sink before moving onto the next.
If you want to search some deeper meaning of the human relationships and existence, then a second reading is highly recommended.
The book has a universal appeal cutting across all age groups and regionality. It is simply but artistically designed. Surely it is for keeps, both for the content and looks. Folks, go for it, it’s a wise investment.
