Half a step before the first one
Vedic scholars — after intense research and analysis — arrived at the Truth about the universe and life some 5,000 years ago. They knew that the questions that they had found answers to will haunt scholars of all times and hence, this timeless knowledge will always remain relevant.
To see to it that this valuable knowledge is not lost in time, they put it down in words — as best as this impossible-to-express information could be.
But as it would seem subtle and dry to the common man, they made it easier to grasp and interesting to go through with the help of stories.
In this tradition, prolific writer Ved Vyas, after arranging the four Vedas in their present form, authored the Mahabharata — full of characters and plots — as the fifth one.
But unfortunately, Puranic tales — which the seers had envisioned as an easy and delightful first step for a beginner on the path of the Truth — are slowly fading away.
To revive those, Sai R Vaidyanathan had — in January 2018 — launched his book ‘BRAHMA’s bloodline’ that gives a brief introduction to various personalities in Vedic literature right from the first Manvantara in this kalpa to the present seventh one. In it, is the unbroken family tree right from Creator Brahma to the successors of Lord Krishna and the Pandavas — spanning 216 crore years.
But in Kaliyuga, which is full of gadgetry distractions, short stories appear lengthy to the “ones who have no free time”. In order that they — and succeeding generations — are not left with just questions on these vital issues and nothing to connect them to the answers, here is ‘Sanatan Dharm Q&A’ that has “Over 700 simple questions on personalities and events in ancient Indian literature”.
For, well begun is half done!
