Are we resigned to our fate? Or can we change it with our spirited actions? Two women from opposite sides of India will answer just that.
Born in Delhi, Kismat is just six when she moves to the States. Despite initial hiccups of transitioning to toilet rolls, and being asked to 'go back to her tribe,' Kismat comes to enjoy her years of spelling bees and summer camps. At a temple in Brooklyn, Kismat meets a well-traveled monk whose wisdom about the Gita inspires her to create a list of seven goals she vows to complete in her lifetime. She tries to do this against all odds, even if those odds come from a doctor who gives her only six months to live.
Karma is born in Kochi. A traumatic incident after her Bharatanatyam class shatters her perception of men and love. She halts her dancing ambitions and moves to London on a University scholarship. Her love for her mother, Lakshmi, pulls her back to her hometown in Kerala. That love is put to the ultimate test when Lakshmi arranges her marriage to Bharat, the handsome son of a close family friend. Bharat succeeds in winning her heart, but she loses the battle to save her mother, who succumbs to a neuron disease. Wrecked by her mother's demise and her own infertility, Karma falls into depression.
Destiny brings the two women together in New Delhi.
A series of meetings between them transforms into a beautiful friendship which changes their fates forever.
