These are turbulent times we live in and Planet Earth is facing a number of challenges. We have to contend with environment degradation, global warming, wars and the latest malaise to trouble our unique planet are the horrors of terrorism.

Often it is felt that these are New Age problems, but there are stories from our ancient literature such as the Puranas which illustrate that similar challenges have been faced in the past. In this book, Sangeeta Venkatesh has reproduced two stories from the Srimad Bhagavatham and Varaha Purana, which highlights the predicaments of the Earth, albeit from mythology.

While there are English translations of the Bhagavatham, the aim of this work is to isolate ‘Earth specific’ stories and present it to readers.
