Ramayanam authored by Valmiki is India's most popular epic. It recounts the historical story of Rama and his life. The story is very popular across many countries throughout the world. The main part of the story narrates the travails of Rama, his wife Sita, and brother Lakshmana when they travel across India.
The tailpiece of Ramayanam, set as a separate section and known as Uttarakandam, provides additional context to the main story. It provides important and astonishing details about Ravana’s birth, his crusades, his ancestors, and family, along with some interesting stories. The section ends with details of the coronation of the sons of Rama and his brothers, and Rama entering the Sarayu river.
These stories are not in much circulation. This book presents these stories in simple Sanskrit and English. Sanskrit learners may find this book to helpful to practice reading. The book captures the essence of the entire Uttarakandam without losing the important details of the stories. For each story, chapter numbers from Uttrakandam are given for reference. At the end, in the appendix, the meanings of some special words are given for easy understanding.
