A must read!!
A 10/10 book which literally made my day better.
I finished this book in just 2 hours in one sitting and that's the beauty of this book. This book contains a collection of short stories which beautifully describes each and every human emotions in a poetic way. Throughout the each story, I felt like reading something very personal. The regret, the sadness, the emotions were beautifully portrayed. I really loved the chapter "Still Moving" and I'm gonna re-read it for the nth time.
If you love short, meaningful, impactful and a book which serves emotions and reality in right amount then this book is definitely for you!!

I am drawn to *Buried Things* because of the warmth that lies underlying its melancholy. These tales appear to recognise that the most potent kinds of love seldom make their presence known. A therapist returning to a patient who can't recall her, a sister reciting bedtime stories while looking for food, a father braiding a mare's mane, or someone sitting next to a stranger are examples of how they live. That kind of love—quiet, tenacious, and frequently invisible—has a gloriously painful quality. This collection, in my opinion, might encourage readers to focus more intently on everyday occurrences and recognise that everyone has a backstory they might never learn.
A Collection of Stories I Enjoyed Reading
Buried Things is a collection of ten interesting short stories, and I enjoyed the variety of characters and situations throughout the book. Each story has its own setting and brings something different to the collection.
I particularly liked “Chocolate” and the character of Mona. “The Coin,” which revolves around an old lady, was also an interesting read. I also enjoyed “The Captain,” especially the characters of Martha and Angel.
Overall, I found the stories engaging and enjoyable. It is a pleasant collection to pick up when you want something light and interesting to read, perhaps with a cup of evening tea. The author has done a good job of bringing together ten different stories in one collection.

Buried Things quietly broke my heart in the best possible way.

• Memorable moments: The father braiding the mare’s mane and the therapist visiting someone who cannot remember her are especially poignant.

Buried Things is a collection of ten exceptionally brilliant short stories, and each one carries a little pain inside it pain that somehow finds its way into your heart before you even realise it.
The story “Better Joke” shattered my heart into pieces, and the other stories were no less impactful.
The book is short, just over 98 pages, but the depth of meaning it holds is remarkable. Even the title feels so perfectly chosen it explores the things we bury deep inside our hearts, the emotions we suppress, the words we never say, and the regrets that sometimes come from keeping them buried.
What I loved most was the simplicity of the storytelling. There is nothing unnecessarily complicated, yet every story leaves you thinking long after you've finished reading it.

Buried Things is a collection of ten short stories filled with love, loss, sacrifice, regret, family, and the things we leave unsaid.
My personal standouts were Chocolate,The Better Joke,The Sleep, The Captain, and Nicole. Each one left a different emotion behind.
“The Captain” stayed with me the longest ; the story of Martha and her family during war was painful and powerful. “The Better Joke” broke my heart, while “The Sleep” and “Nicole” had beautiful emotional twists. And “Chocolate” carried a touching theme of love and sacrifice.
The language is simple and easy to read, but the emotions run much deeper. Some stories could have been tighter, but overall, this is a genuinely emotional debut collection.
Every page carries a thousand feelings, waiting to be felt.
Lovely read
The collection of stories which keep you hooked since the very first tale to the very last story . The has an engaging pace . And emotions it invokes,are exemplary . The way of the stories have been plated feels realistic and is realism in its excellent form .what I loved the most is that the stories feels like slices of life . Small palatable and catchy all at the same time , each character feels personal each character is unique with own quirks and qualities all of which re loved all the same.
Beautiful collection of short stories
"Buried Things" is a very beautiful and calming collection. I loved all the stories. Every one of it portrays a different emotion. From a father missing his daughter to two friends uniting after years to war veterans coming face to face to the aftermath of dementia. This collection brings many things together. My absolute favourite was "Still moving". Its was the most unexpected one. It started as supernatural horror but at the end it made me feel the pain of a parent.
I started this book myself but then the stories are so simple, calming and deep that I started it midway with my 7 year old son. We buddy read the book and his favourite one was "The longer route". He said it reminded him of me and his dad arguing over insignificant things
Overall, an amazing collection and good choice for any age group. Kids may not understand the underlying messages in few stories, but they might just enjoy the story. Worth reading and worth recommending.

The book consists of 10 very intriguing stories that leaves a heavy impact on your heart. While some stories teach you the value of time and empathy for people, some will break your heart in an unknown way. Highly recommended read if you're up for amazing lessons in an interesting way.
Ordinary moments
What I liked about this book is that the stories don't feel overly dramatic. They're about very normal people and very normal things—family, love, loneliness, responsibilities, waiting, and all those feelings we usually don't talk about.
There’s a father and his daughter.
Someone who just needs a person to sit with them.
A husband who keeps waiting.
An eldest daughter carrying more than she probably should.
And while reading, I kept thinking, “How many people around us are going through something we know nothing about?”
That’s what made the book feel personal to me.
I also loved how love is shown here. Not always through big declarations, but through small things—waiting for someone, taking responsibility, sharing food, telling a bedtime story, or simply being there.
Some stories I connected with more than others, but a few definitely made me stop and sit with the feeling for a while.

Why this book feels unique to me because this collection includes the story focus on unspoken love and understated human connections. Each story carries emotional depth and reminds us that every person has an untold story. I liked all the stories but ‘Coin’, and ‘The Sleep’ are my favourite. This book reminds us that everyone in any moment of life carries a story that is tender, reflective, and quietly powerful and can hold the deepest meaning. All stories let you stop, reflect and think about the feelings we often bury within ourselves.
A worth read
What I loved the most was the title of the book, it is deep in ways that i can't even explain like, someone already knows that there are things we keep hidden.
