Shane Hollands is a veteran of the New Zealand performance poetry scene.
He is well known for his innovative work with music of diverse genres, from electronica to jazz to metal, & for giving other poets a platform to perform; he established the performance poetry theatre collective the Literatti, the New Zealand national celebration of Beat Poetry, the Kerouac Effect & briefly hosted the chaotic radio show Dirty Wordz on Fleet FM.
He was one half of the art-poetry- music duo Beautiful Losers, and is best known as the frontman and poet for the wordcore band,
Freaky Meat.
Playing with Freaky Meat and solo he has featured at the Oamaru Jazz Festival and Wellington’s Word Festival, the Titirangi Festival
of Music, Auckland’s AK Festival, the Dunedin Fringe Festival & the celebration of Performing Arts Festival (AK).
He has toured extensively around New Zealand, playing every major city and many small towns from Kaitaia to Barrytown to
Invercargill. His poetry is full of love, loss and journeys.
The atomic composition of the seeming solid is Shane’s fourth book & his first book in 13 years, though he has put out two EPs and an
album.
Whilst including most of the Freaky Meat lyrics, the book shows offmore of the breadth & strength of Shane’s writing.
