Description

Four strangers. Four haunted lives. Four stories where loneliness breeds terror.

Solitude is a collection of slow-burning psychological horror tales that blend raw human emotion with the chilling unknown. Each story peels back the fragile layers of the human psyche — where love twists into obsession, comfort hides claws, and silence becomes the loudest nightmare of all.

Sudha — A middle-aged housewife trapped in a loveless marriage discovers a midnight encounter that promises transformation… but at a terrible price.
Asad — A gentle young man seeking peace in Bengaluru’s woods finds himself consumed by a dangerous obsession that blurs desire and possession.
Avantika — Burned out and retreating to a secluded mansion in the Uttarakhand hills, she learns that nature’s embrace can be as merciless as it is tender.
Rohan — Alone on the storm-lashed Andaman coast, he watches a distant lighthouse reveal horrors with every sweep of its light.

Unsettling, melancholic, and unforgettable, Solitude doesn’t just aim to frighten — it lingers. It asks what happens when the quiet spaces we long for, turn against us, and when our deepest desires become our darkest fears.

Perfect for fans of Shirley Jackson, Mariana Enriquez, and Stephen King’s quieter nightmares, Solitude is for readers who crave horror that cuts deep, long after the final page.

About the Author

Shubham Jain was born and raised in New Delhi, India. He holds a graduate degree in journalism and mass communication, followed by a postgraduate degree in marketing. After nearly a decade working in content marketing with leading brands and agencies, Shubham is now pursuing his lifelong dream—publishing his own novel.

From spinning horror tales as a child to scare his friends, to creating content across diverse industries, storytelling has always been at the heart of Shubham’s journey. Yet, the urge to explore the inner lives of quiet, complex characters—many inspired by real-life encounters—never left him.

After years of postponing this creative calling, Shubham has finally poured his experiences and the stories he’s collected from strangers into his debut novel. This book marks his first foray into fiction and traditional publishing. Every word in this manuscript stems from his deep understanding of the human psyche—particularly those who feel unheard in the noise and haste of modern life.

Outside of writing, Shubham is passionate about traveling—especially to remote hill and mountain regions. His Instagram page has earned him a modest following of readers and fellow travellers who find comfort in his stories, reflections, and photography.

In his downtime, he enjoys diving into horror films or reading works by global authors.

Shubham shares his lens on the world through his Instagram handle @atypicaltraveler, where his evocative travel photography, self portraits, and immersive storytelling capture the raw beauty of places. From quiet corners of forgotten towns to deeply personal reflections on the road, his feed is an extension of the themes he explores in his writing — curiosity, solitude, and the search for meaning.
