Sowmya Ramkumar is the founder of 1ACross.org and the author of the Cryptic Crossroads compilations. The first book in this series viz. Cryptic Crossroads was published in 2017, followed by Cryptic Crossroads – Vol. 2 in 2019 and this is the third book in that series. Each book has brought together talented setters from across the globe most of whom have never met in real life and yet have collaborated due to a shared passion for words and wordplay.

Sowmya has set nearly 200 crosswords for various publications including The Hindu (as "Hypatia"), Catalyst, the brand supplement of "The Hindu Businessline", Preston Pages in the UK and the Gulf Weekly in Bahrain.

When not setting crosswords, Sowmya loves teaching, reading, travelling and quizzing. Having taught herself Crochet from YouTube videos, she has won two Guinness World Records as part of a crochet group.
