Supriya was born in the Pink City Jaipur into an erudite, and liberal Bengali family, brought up in Mumbai; an academically proficient student, she graduated from St Xavier's College (BA- Eng Lit), did her post graduation in business administration from Welingkar College, and since then has been working with various media brands - Times of India, India Today group, DNA, Viacom, Times Internet Ltd, Aakash Bangla to name a few. She has worked across media platforms like TV, internet, radio, print, and event management.

Her happy go lucky attitude meant this book you hold in your hands was published a decade after she completed it. She has completed two more books after this one. Apart from being an avid reader, her passion is to “dream travel” and is an enthusiast of Indian textiles. She is also interested in politics, economics, medicine, history, and of late has been bitten by an infectious entrepreneurial bug and hopes to start her business venture soon.
For Supriya, writing is an inner flow of consciousness and is “un-captivating” and therapeutic. Her inspiration is everyday people- their lives, hypocrisies, pretentions, ego, and all over the endearing suffering and pain. She is most happy when with her parents (Ms Ajanta and Sukesh Chakravarty) and younger brother. (Satyajeet). Recently this gang has few more addition her husband (Soumitra Chatterjee- an investment analyst) and their one-year-old daughter-Chini.
