Born on December 25, 1962, in Kolkata to Barun Kumar Roychowdhury and Radharani Roychowdhury, the author of this book, Tarun Roychowdhury is a science graduate from the University of Calcutta. He began his professional journey with the Education Directorate under the Government of West Bengal and later served as a Senior Accountant in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting under the Government of India.

With a passion for traveling, photography, and writing, he has contributed to various magazines and leading newspapers in both Bengali and English. The author is also known for the book Solomoner Ratnabhandar, along with two others on common fish identification and aquarium fish, and for editing A Lockdown Journey, a collection of writings where people from various fields share their experiences during the lockdown period, published in 2021.
