Re: Suno Chhoti Si Gudiya Ki Lambi Kahani

Its a simple story of simple people with simple narration. Little added spices by dear and near ones of Anand and Anamika makes the story flow smoothly. There is absolutely no dramatization either in their happy moments or pain.
Its a package deal of life of Anand and Anamika in the typical average Indian middle class scenario. The reader feels no complexity as both deal with their life's ups and downs as simple non-hero people just like you and me!!
Its Indian version of Mills and Boon, and Bollywood songs add lovely frill to it. All characters are believable. Their convictions, actions and reactions are absolutely anticipatable.
I started the book not feeling like to skip any page and finished in two evenings! A quick paced book!!
It didn't leave me elated or dejected but left a smile on my face.

Re: Suno Chhoti Si Gudiya Ki Lambi Kahani

I've read SUNO CHHOTI SI GUDIYA KI LAMBI KAHANI...Though the prologue is quite depressing, it makes a good read. The narrative is well expressed, readable, and the story flows naturally. The writer has a deep understanding of human psychology, social mindset vis-a-vis the Indian society. The writer also has a good sense of humour and the college days can be easily described as cute.
What is impressive is that the characters seem real, mature, yet vulnerable. The characters behave as per their educational and family background and the reader can relate to them and the situations spontaneously.
The end of the story is sad enough, as Anamika struggles through her last days, and Anand's efforts to fulfil her last wishes rip your heartstrings apart. The use of Indian cinema music of the bygone years is quite appealing.
Mainly I would say that the write up is complete, no loose ends....and the story is worth reading...

Re: Suno Chhoti Si Gudiya Ki Lambi Kahani

A heart rending story of two doctors..Anamika and Anand. Her voice, when he hears for the first time holds him spellbound and once they meet, there is no going back for either of them. "If not you then nobody else!" Their journey begins. Lots of ups, downs, twists and turns..their love for each other stays with them all through and beyond. There is no damsel in distress or a knight with a shining armour here. But its still a love story in the purest form. The prologue of the story already told us how the story would be ending and it made the sweet moments in between all more sweet but painful too. Its a story which brings a smile on your face while your eyes fill up with tears. Not all the stories have a happy ending but this is one story that made me wish with all my heart that it had a happily ever after in it.

Re: Suno Chhoti Si Gudiya Ki Lambi Kahani

The Prologue is quite moving and invokes tears. The college campus scene is totally realistic, matches with what really happens in campus with freshers. Characters become friendly with readers, and this point is necessary to hold the reader's interest. Ragging has been described in a very interesting manner. Experiences in the anatomy class and the fear has come out very nice, Dissection demonstration and fresher's reactions are quite realistic. Mixie's homecoming in Diwali has come out very nice. Character of Mixie's grandmother has come out quite realistic, Her anxiety that Mixie being a south Indian girl, according to convention, needs to know cooking before marriage is very strong, this being the logic believed in ervy south Indian family. The cultural fest in the college, the anatomay viva are gripping and realistic. The first interaction between Anand and Anamika forms the begining of their story together. Anand in the begining appears to be a terror to the students. And then mellows down. Later he writes romantic letters to Anamika, these letters are sometimes untimely and appear immature. Furthermore Mixie's instant approval for Dr Anand's proposal is quite offbeat. But these are the ways of love I guess, then the refusal from her family is quite expected. Mixie's father's accident becomes a turning point, as Anand re-kindles his feelings for Anamika. The marriage formalities are quite hilarious and are what would have happened in an inter-caste marriage wherein nobody's expections are met. The happy days follow the marriage, birth of the first baby girl and the compromises thereafter, are typical of a middle class educated couple. But what is ultimately gripping is the discovery that Anamika's days are numbered, her suffering, her friends, her children...is quite touching. And finally when the family tries for an emotional closure moves the reader to tears...the songs are well chosen and shape the situation further. A Very moving story, a must read...
