‘"They are coming," whispered Father. I knew in an instant what this meant, and felt shivers ripple down my spine...' Arise Penninghame feels as if his small world is crumbling into dust. It is the year 1692, during the height of the Salem witch trials. Arise and his guardian, Nathaniel, are accused of a crime they did not commit. Lost and alone, the boy finds he has to grow up quickly in order to survive, living on the hope that Fate will one day grant him his old life back... Yet his past continues to haunt him. He has questions that yearn to be answered. Hazy, unexplainable memories that he can't decipher. Though when he gets a chance to change his life, a slim, dangerous chance, should he take it? Would it really be better to hide in the blessed shadow of lies, or push himself into the painful truth?
Keeps you hooked!!!
Arise is a wonderful piece of fiction which keeps you hooked right till the very end. The plot is fresh, which is seasoned with brilliant use of language. It’s amazing how young minds can write such engrossing books and such a tender age, I just couldn’t keep it down till I finished it. Highly recommended!!
