Clarissa Dalloway is busy preparing for a party that she is hosting, inviting people as she goes through her London neighbourhood. The book narrates the events of a single day in her life, where she encounters several characters, adding to the element of the story. The novel explores the human consciousness and its complexities through the interactions of Mrs. Dalloway with the characters, thus, the characters playing an important role in moving the plot forward. Her past is also a recurrent theme which gives significant insights into her life.
