When I read about India’s fight for independence, I often wonder: What would I have done if I were there? The stories I’ve encountered, while inspiring, often focus on the iconic figures—the names etched in our textbooks and memorials. But what about the nameless, faceless revolutionaries who worked in the shadows? What about their courage, their losses, and their dreams?
This novel is my attempt to answer that question by creating an imaginary world within the known world. Arjun and Ishani are fictional characters, but their struggles, triumphs, and sacrifices are rooted in the real lives of the unsung heroes who shaped our history. Their story blends the personal with the political, the intimate with the universal, to honor those who fought not just with weapons, but with resilience, intelligence, and an unwavering belief in freedom.
