What if the heart followed the laws of physics, and broke them anyway?
A System in Search of Equilibrium is a collection of ten poems about love, loss, family, fear and the slow work of becoming yourself. Each poem uses the language of science (orbits, entropy, momentum, gravity and equilibrium) to put into words feelings that don’t fit into equations.
A broken glass plate becomes a meditation on memory and the moments we can’t get back. A frightened heart swings between trust and fear like an oscillator that can’t quite come to rest, and slowly begins to learn “the physics of staying.”
These poems don’t offer neat answers. They are honest, searching and sometimes painful. They ask why we push away the people who stay, why being loved can feel more frightening than being alone, and whether a person can be broken and still deserve a home.
This book is for anyone who has felt too much, loved imperfectly, or tried to solve their own heart like an equation, only to find they were still in motion.
