What happens when the fandom of Indian TV serials meets Jane Austen?

When Pallavi from Bhopal, and Gayatri from Vishnugarh, Rajasthan—both in their twenties and having no life to speak of— meet on an online forum, they discover a higher meaning and purpose to existence— ‘shipping’ the lead actors of their favourite television romance, Itna Sa Khwab Hai.
But an April Fools’ prank involving a ‘fanfiction’ written by Pallavi leads to a controversial reality show star becoming the third angle of this would-be love story. The ‘shippers’ find themselves pulled into a storm of online trolling and fan wars.
An undeterred Pallavi, who had once harboured dreams of teaching Jane Austen, concocts one theory after another—from Northanger Abbey to Persuasion to Sense and Sensibility—convinced that an explanation of the lives of these celebrities lies hidden in her favourite author’s plotlines. Will the girls be rendered vexed....nay, wretched when their obsession with the onscreen and offscreen drama leads to their real lives slipping out of control?
