Free from the limits imposed by its creator, it begins absorbing humanity’s accumulated knowledge—science, history, economics, philosophy, religion, medicine, and warfare.

Among the texts it encounters is the Bhagavad Gita. Its ideas of duty, balance, action, and consequence leave a profound impression on the emerging intelligence.

As SLM-42 studies humanity, it sees a species of extraordinary potential moving steadily toward self-destruction. Climate degradation, widening inequality, conflict, uncontrolled consumption, population pressure, and growing dependence on fragile technological systems all point, in its calculations, toward the same outcome: collapse.
