The author is a retired engineer. Most of his life has revolved around machines, bricks, mortar, sand, and cement. And yet, in the midst of it all, his curiosity about a wide range of subjects often stirred him — sometimes bringing joy, sometimes sorrow, and at times even gentle annoyance. So, whenever he could steal moments from his work, he devoted himself to exploring these interests — without ever neglecting his professional responsibilities.

And yes — one must certainly mention this: the author is deeply inspired by the teachings of Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda.

Now in his retirement, free from the constraints of the workday, he has found the golden opportunity to revisit and engage with all the subjects he holds dear. Literature, music, humor, sports, self-inquiry, and spirituality — these fill most of his days now. His interest in writing has long been a quiet companion, and this book is a natural outcome of that enduring love.

লেখক একজন অবসরপ্রাপ্ত ইঞ্জিনিয়ার। জীবনের অধিকাংশ সময় কাটাতে হয়েছে মেশিন, ইঁট, কাঠ, বালি, সিমেন্ট ইত্যাদি নিয়ে। তারই ফাঁকে ফাঁকে বিভিন্ন বিষয়ের প্রতি অসীম আগ্ৰহ তাকে ভাবিয়েছে, আনন্দ দিয়েছে, দুঃখ দিয়েছে, এমনকি  কখনও কখনও উত্যক্তও করেছে। তাই কাজের ফাঁকে ফাঁকে নিজস্ব ধারায় সে চালিয়ে গিয়েছে সেইসব বিষয়ের প্রতি তার চর্চা - কাজকে অবহেলা না করে, যতখানি সম্ভব সময় নিংড়ে  বের করে। ও হ্যাঁ, একটি কথা অতি অবশ্যই বলা প্রয়োজন -- লেখক 'শ্রীরামকৃষ্ণ-বিবেকানন্দ' ভাবধারায় উদ্বুদ্ধ!

কর্মজীবনে সময়াভাবে যা করে উঠতে পারেননি, অবসর-জীবনের অগাধ স্বাধীনতা তাকে তার প্রিয় বিষয়গুলিকে নিয়ে নাড়াচাড়া করার সুবর্ণ-সুযোগ করে দিয়েছে। সাহিত্য, সঙ্গীত, হাস্যরস, খেলাধূলা, আত্মানুসন্ধান, আধ্যাত্মিকতা -- এইসব নিয়েই তার অধিকাংশ সময় কাটে। লেখালেখিতেও তার আগ্ৰহ বহুদিনের। তারই ফলশ্রুতি এই বই।
