Description

In slummed cities, where children become orphaned even before they are born, the body sings the ghazals that the tongue often forgets.
Portraying a society rooted in orthodoxy, Arjun Kochhar's Afsana brings to light the unadulterated stories of dreamers, who have nearly forgotten how to dream. From church altars to rustic beaches and gulmohar fields to a hospital of stillbirths, Afsana unearths magic in the most unexpected of places. Through the powerful narrative of its prose and poetry, it paints a nightmarish picture of the harsh realities of wrestling social evils in contemporary society.
At its centre, Afsana translates to ‘story', and this is just that: the story of life.

About the Author

Arjun Kochhar, born in March, 2003, is an aspiring seventeen year old writer from New Delhi, India. From an early age, he had set his heart on pursuing an unconventional career in the arts, something uncommon in the Indian society. At the young age of five, he took to dancing and much later, at age twelve, to writing.
Deeply vested in authoring prose, poetry as well as news articles, Arjun is serving as the current Editor-in-Chief for his school’s Model United Nations’ Secretariat. He is a keen advocate of social justice as is exemplified through his various undertakings, both inside and outside school.
For his higher studies, he hopes to pursue a double major in journalism/writing and dance. He also loves to travel, read, discuss history and public affairs, and spend time with his loved ones.
Afsana is his debut collection.
