Espionage, conspiracy, deception, love, hate, and revenge ruled the fate of the Protagonist -
Bahadur Singh Chouhan, a very successful businessman cum Politician in 1994, who was
formerly the King of Kalpa before the Independence of India.
He survived many assassination attempts pre-independence, which again resumed in 1980
almost three and a half decades post-independence. He survived a third such deadly attack
in Jan 1994, while traveling with his wife back from Kalpa to Delhi. This catapults him to hire
a private investigator, Colonel Zorawar Singh Rathore (Retd.) who digs deep into the history
of the family to identify the real mastermind and the motive behind the attack.
We are taken down the memory lane to October 1941. The protagonists’ elder brother his
highness Samsher Singh Chowhan, popularly called Raja Saheb, while he was at his in-
law’s kingdom of Kumaon, receives reports of a sinister conspiracy perpetrated by his wife
Queen Kangana in collaboration with her brother Crown Prince of Kumaon and an enemy
king to assassinate him and claim the throne of Kalpa. They have supposedly planned to
maliciously blame the protagonist, the righteous heir, for hatching the conspiracy to kill his
elder brother. Though Raja Saheb tries to avoid a possible attack on him, he meets with a
tragic accident on his way back from his in-law’s kingdom to Kalpa. He ultimately succumbs
to the mortal injuries but hands over the reins of the kingdom to his brother publicly,
successfully foiling any possible conspiracy. On his deathbed, he confides to Bahadur Singh
that, his instincts suggest to him that Kangana may not have been the culprit. Had someone
framed the entire incident? Was there foul play, or deception all along?
Enthroned at the age of 21 under precarious conditions in 1941, the protagonist efficiently
rules his kingdom and rightly envisions the independence of India in 1947. He successfully
secures his family position and wealth through the conglomerate ‘Raja Saheb Group’ and
continues the welfare of Kalpa as a successful businessman cum politician. However, there
was a series of deadly attacks on his life during pre-independence of India which again
resumed & continued post-1980 and onwards and the perpetrators were never caught.
Over the years, he moved his base to Bombay and London along with his son, who is now
the proud father of twin daughters.
Colonel Zorawar successfully unravels the last attack on his life in January 1994 with his
strategic approach and sharp investigating skills. The Protagonist was certain that this time,
he had hired the right man and it was only a matter of time before his anonymous enemy
would be nabbed.
But the family was once again caught in a precarious situation in 1994. Bahadur Singh’s
granddaughter Aroondhati was saved by Jaidev, a wildlife photographer from Bombay, when
she was trapped in a frightening situation near a ferociously large lion pride in the dense
jungles of Masai Mara, Kenya. They fell in love and were engaged. But soon, there was a
murderous attempt on Jaidev, in which two of Jaidev’s home helps were killed in his
bungalow. This was when Anant Agasse, ACP (Homicide), Bombay Police, assured the
Protagonist that the real culprit would be nabbed.
However, peace doesn’t come easy. Soon after, in Oct 1994 the private elevator that
Bahadur Singh boards from the 18th floor of his office crashes with a massive thud at 11 in
the night. According to reports, everyone inside the elevator was instantly killed.
The entire mystery unfolds in the 2 nd part of this book, named ‘Masters of Deceptions’,
where one would be able to know, who was the mastermind and what was the motive for
such sustained assassination attempts on the life of Protagonist Bahadur Singh.
