Kumaran Asan(1873-1924) The most eminent among the renaissance poets of Kerala. Secretary to the Sri Narayana Dharma Paripalana (SNDP) Yogam and member of Prajamandalam (Legislative Assembly of Travancore) instrumental in bringing about great social change. Profound genius of poetic insight with philosophic strains. Main works: Veena Poovu, Nalini, Leela, Chandalabhikshuki, Chintavishtayaya Sita, Duravastha and Karuna.

Banathoor Vasudevan Nampoodiriapad, was born in a large joint family in Avala, a small village in northern Kerala. Grown up in an atmosphere of Vedic chanting and piety.Exposed to Sanskrit at home in his early years. Graduated and taught Physics for 30 years, Now Serves as a priest (Acharya) in temples, a duty inherited.
