Description

From shame and clinical chaos, to purpose and grace.
The O Happy Fault is a raw, theological memoir detailing the author’s turbulent journey from a life of youthful arrogance and control to radical spiritual freedom. From a police lock-up to the existential paralysis of Bipolar II disorder, Blaise D'Souza chronicles the catastrophic collapse of his "False Self" and the subsequent struggle against spiritual sloth, or Acedia, the central enemy of the soul.
Through years of rigorous spiritual discipline and rational theological engagement, D'Souza discovers the revolutionary concept of Rightly Ordered Self-Love. This collection of essays anchors itself in the principle of Felix Culpa—the "Happy Fault"—affirming that God uses our deepest flaws, clinical realities, and catastrophic failures not as obstacles, but as the very instruments necessary for an authentic and greater redemption.
This book is a radical call to embrace your wounds and be fully, bravely alive.

About the Author

Blaise D'Souza is a writer and peer support advocate based in Mumbai, India, whose work delves into the complex and often painful intersection of faith, mental illness, and the search for healing.
Drawing from his own decades-long journey with Bipolar II and Cluster B personality disorders, Blaise writes with a raw honesty and profound compassion, rooted in the struggle that defined his life: "Am I bad, or am I mad?"
His new short story, "The Thud Before Christmas," channels this unique experience into a fictional family devastated by suicide and theological fear. The story mirrors Blaise's own search for a truth that could transcend fear and judgment—a search that led him from Catholic charismatic retreats to the brink of suicide on the streets of Mumbai.
Blaise is the author of several other works, including the memoirs Let them know I love them and No Madness No Badness, all dedicated to sharing a message of unconditional love and hope. He writes for anyone who has ever felt torn apart, lost in the gray area between spiritual condemnation and psychological diagnosis, and yearning for grace.
