Anglo-Indian Food is homely, plain, and simple - Comfort and Nostalgia in every bite. Every time one has an Anglo-Indian Meal, we are transported back to our childhood days of our mum or grandmother making the same dish. Our memories of it come flooding back and we drown in a sea of food nostalgia. There is no explanation as to how our minds link specific memories to flavours and smells. It just brings happiness and joy, associated with childhood or home cooking, which provides a nostalgic or sentimental feeling. Unknown to us, we unconsciously fall back upon our food memories when cooking our favourite dishes.
I have shared more than 250 easy Recipes of everyday, traditional, popular, and well loved, Anglo-Indian Dishes such as Pepperwater, Oxtail and other soups, Meat Ball Curry, Bobo Curry, (the old Anglo-Indian name for a chicken curry), Ding Ding, Brown and White Stews, Meat fries and Vindaloo, Chops and Cutlets, Beef and Pork Roasts, Coconut Rice, Pish Pash, and Junglee Pulao, Devil Chutney, Brinjal Pickle, Puddings, Custards, Kul Kuls, Rose Cookies, Peanut Toffee, Milk Fudge, Dhol Dhol, and my mum’s special Christmas Cake recipe and Grape and Ginger wine.
These recipes are interspersed with Food Memories, Tales, and Anecdotes of my childhood in Kolar Gold Fields. It will surely take one on a sentimental and nostalgic journey down memory lane, of similar long forgotten incidents and experiences, and will bring back a feeling of nostalgia and happiness of a bygone era.
