About the Author

Hello! I am TAPAS CHANDRA ROY
A Certified Farm Advisor on Millets with distinction and have been recognized by the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE) and Indian Institute of Millets Research (IIMR), Hyderabad.

A cadet of Sainik School, Bhubaneswar, an agriculture graduate from Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology, and an MBA (Agri-Business Management) from Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Co-operative Management (VAMNICOM), Pune. Currently working as Block Agriculture Officer in the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Government of Odisha, and serving the farming community.

I am promoting Millets from Farm to Plate so that the goodness of Millet reaches many people. On a mission to take the millets to millions. I am looking after the implementation of the Odisha Millet Mission at the ground level and helping farmers from sowing to harvesting by imparting training and providing Advisory Services. In addition to that, I am helping entrepreneurs, Self Help Groups, and Farmer Producer Organizations in the millet journey.

I have a passion for developing delicious and innovative millet recipes and have been awarded at the National Level. I was the first winner of making Millet Rasgulla and runner-up in the Special Millet Biryani Millet Recipe Contest conducted by the Indian Institute of Millets Research, Hyderabad.

I am a Youtuber (> 20,000 subscribers) and a Blogger (www.milletadvisor.com) (8,000-10,000 visitors per month) on Millets. Created a YouTube channel - TCR Connecting Agriculture in which I am promoting millets by covering Millet Technologies, Processing, Millet Farming, Recipes, and many more and helping and guiding millet entrepreneurs in their journey.

On these digital platforms, I am taking the initiative to share knowledge, skills, learnings, and all about millets so that awareness is created in this digital world and my advice and recommendations may help farmers, consumers, entrepreneurs, and all other stakeholders in their decision-making.

I did a Project Work on ‘‘‘’ Utilization of Finger Millet in Nutritional Security’’’’ in Koraput, Odisha in 2020 where I worked with farmers, NGOs, and the workers under ICDS Programme and assessed the triggering mechanism for incorporation of Finger Millet in the regular diet of men, women, and children.

I have contributed to the ‘‘‘’ White Paper on Millets”’’ as a Task Force Committee Member submitted to Niti Aayog, Government of India. I have shared my experience and knowledge in Agriculture Production, Climate, Post-Harvest Processing, and Policy Status, and Prescription on Millets..

Represented Odisha Millet Mission in different states and Union territories like Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Telangana.
I was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation for my exemplary commitment towards Scheme implementation and farmer welfare under Dakshyata from the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Government of Odisha in 2020.

I was awarded the Global Sustainability Award 2022 by the Global Council for the Promotion of International Trade (GCPIT).
I was awarded the Best Extension Official by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment, Government of Odisha under Odisha Millet Mission for promoting millets on Millet Divas held on 10th, November 2022.

I am the author of the book ‘’Millet Business Ideas-Empowering Millet Startups’’ and this book has reached many readers in India and other countries like the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Uganda, and Australia.

Finally, I have a passion for Millets.
