Description

In a world where your morning coffee routine leaks more personal data than your grandparents shared in their entire lives, privacy isn’t optional—it’s survival.

Privacy by Design is a developer’s practical guide to building applications that protect user privacy from day one. Written for coders, engineers, and startup founders, this book cuts through the noise of compliance checklists and legal jargon to deliver hands-on techniques for creating privacy-first apps in the age of surveillance capitalism.

Inside, you’ll learn:
✅ Why surveillance is no longer a dystopian concept—it’s Tuesday morning.
✅ How to bake privacy into your system architecture using Ann Cavoukian’s 7 Principles.
✅ Threat modeling techniques simplified for builders (STRIDE, DREAD).
✅ Real-world cryptography you actually need: AES, Argon2, Zero-Knowledge Proofs.
✅ Secure coding patterns and architectural designs for privacy-first applications.
✅ Three complete projects:
• Secure Chat – An encrypted messaging app.
• Private Share – A peer-to-peer file sharing platform.
• Data Shredder – A file annihilation toolkit for truly deleting sensitive data.
✅ Usability and compliance strategies (GDPR, HIPAA, PCI DSS) for privacy-aware UX.

With detailed code examples in Python and JavaScript, practical checklists, and a developer-centric approach, Privacy by Design helps you move beyond theory to build systems that defend user privacy—even against nation-state adversaries.

If you’ve ever thought “I’m just building a to-do app; privacy doesn’t apply to me,” this book will change your perspective forever.

The future of digital privacy isn’t decided by governments or corporations—it’s built by developers like you. This book shows you how.

About the Author

I’m a developer deeply interested in privacy, cryptography, and the ethics of software design. Over the years, I’ve worked across the stack—building everything from encrypted messaging systems and peer-to-peer file transfer tools to forensic-resistant file destruction platforms. What drives my work is a belief that privacy isn’t just a feature—it’s a responsibility.
I wrote this book because I’ve seen too many developers left to figure out privacy on their own. Most resources focus on theory or compliance, but very few show how to build privacy-first applications in the real world. I wanted to close that gap—to give practical, technical guidance that developers can actually use.
My work is grounded in hands-on security: I’ve conducted penetration tests, worked in SOC environments, and built tools that prioritize minimalism, resilience, and end-to-end encryption. I enjoy experimenting with cryptographic protocols, zero-knowledge architecture, and secure-by-default system design.
If this book helped you build something more respectful of your users, or if it sparked a question or idea—I’d love to hear about it.
