Action research is a process in which participants examine
their own educational practice systematically and carefully,
using the techniques of research. Lewin is credited with
coining the term ‘action research’ to describe work that did
not separate the investigation from the action needed to solve
the problem” (McFarland & Stansell, 1993, p. 14). It was well
defined as: Action research is deliberate, solution-oriented
investigation that is group or personally owned and
conducted. It is characterized by spiraling cycles of problem
identification, systematic data collection, reflection, analysis,
data-driven action taken, and, finally, problem redefinition.
