Western Region of Odisha is a repository of vast corpora of copper plate inscriptions. Many of those have come to limelight, some of those are yet in the limbo of obscurity; hitherto unknown to scholars till to-date. The author has taken pains and discovered quite a good number of them in the past two decades. Those are given intensive treatment; which have yielded history of profound and far-reaching significance. In the process, many long-standing notions have changed and new history has emerged as in the cases of some of the illustrious dynasties, This tract, a hinterland of the country, has been sidetracked presently comes into the mainstream historical studies of Central-Eastern India. Thus the inscriptions which were basically deeds of land grants have become “the lifeblood of history” to the posterity. The book will be of inestimable help to scholars to reconstruct history.
