In this text, Ramayana is envisioned as the story of the birth and growth of the principal characters of Rama and Sita inside one’s own koshas or energy chakras. The journey undertaken by Rama and the various stages of that journey split into Kandas (chapters) are closely related to the spiritual journey a seeker undertakes while doing inner meditation on chakras. The names of the various characters encountered during the journey have a special significance and the author has attempted to decrypt the inner meaning. The ancient temples across country and the nature of those deities and established rituals remain a testimony to both the epic journey undertaken by Sri Rama and the energies of each deity linked to specific chakras.

The physical journey of Sri Rama has happened in antiquity to establish dharma. However, each seeker who undertakes the inner journey of meditation, will experience Rama, who will help overcome the inner negative forces of three bodies- Physical, Subtle and Causal. Hence Rama is born again and again, as an individual deity, to countless devotees. Therein lies the appeal of Ramayana to countless individuals, over centuries.
