Indian economy is an emerging economy in the world. Agriculture,
industries, import -export, service sector etc. are the important
component of the Indian economy. The contribution of
agriculture in the Indian economy is very important. In India, it is
estimated that 63 percent of the population is directly or indirectly
dependent on agricultural activities. Small and medium enterprises
in India are also dependent on agriculture. Agriculture is the major
employment generating sector in India followed by the Small and
Medium Enterprises group in India which generates employment.
Some of the Small and Medium Enterprises are found unorganized
In India even today. The unorganized sectors are found in every
place in India. Unorganized workers include agricultural laborers,
industrial laborers, service sector laborers, and others. Unorganized
workers are mostly found in the construction industry followed
by the agriculture sector with the highest number of workers.
The unorganized sector gives employment to a large and
considerable part of workforce both in rural and urban area. The
unorganised sectors are also called as informational sectors. It includes
activities carried out by small and family enterprises, part or
wholly with family labour. Growth of the informal sector and of the
informal workers is due to a number of reasons including structural
adjustment, privatization, liberalization and globalization, and the
growth of the new knowledge economy.

About the Author

Dr. Mehata Shalikram Nagbhide is a distinguished Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Marketing at R.N.C. Arts, J.D.B. Commerce, and N.S.C. Science College at Nashik Road. With a commendable academic background, Dr. Nagbhide secured various degrees, marking the pinnacle with a Ph.D. from SPPU, Pune in 2023. In a teaching career spanning over three decades, he has imparted knowledge to both undergraduate and postgraduate students, amassing 33+ and 28+ years of experience, respectively.

Dr. Nagbhide 's contributions extend beyond the classroom. He served as the NSS Programme Officer for seven years, organizing numerous residential camps and blood donation drives, and contributing to social welfare initiatives. His tenure as the Chief Examination Officer and Internal ISO Auditor at B.Y.K.C.C., Nashik, underscores his administrative acumen and commitment to educational excellence.

An avid participant in various orientation and refresher courses, Dr. Nagbhide has continuously honed his skills and expertise. His involvement in committees related to admission, counseling, timetable, and discipline at the college exemplifies his holistic approach to education. A resident of Khutwad Nagar, Kamatwade, Nashik, Dr. Nagbhide is not just an educator but a lifelong learner and a contributor to societal well-being, blending academic rigor with compassionate outreach.
