Description
This foundational chapter establishes the philosophical framework for
modern steel structure design while providing comprehensive coverage
of tension member analysis and design. The chapter integrates the Limit
State Method with practical design considerations, covering steel
classifications, material properties, load combinations, and detailed
tension member design procedures. Emphasis is placed on understanding
the transition from traditional working stress methods to contemporary
limit state approaches, ensuring readers develop proficiency in IS:800-
2007 applications.
